ABB (Asea Brown Boveri Ltd) was formed on January 5, 1988, through the merger of Switzerland’s BBC and Sweden’s ASEA. Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, ABB began operations with revenues of USD 17 billion and 160,000 employees worldwide. This historic merger remains one of the largest and most influential in the power and automation industries. That same year, ABB established its wholly owned subsidiary in Taiwan—ABB Taiwan—to provide engineering and technological services essential to Taiwan’s economic development, reflecting ABB’s strong commitment to the region.
For more than 30 years, ABB Taiwan has expanded its presence across Taipei, Taichung, Yunlin, and Kaohsiung. Beyond logistics management, we operate demonstration, training, and service centers to deliver products and technical support with minimal geographic distance while meeting the needs of industry, government, academia, research, and media partners. In Taiwan, ABB serves industries including semiconductors, consumer electronics, petrochemicals, utilities, renewable energy, steel, plastics and rubber, shipping and shipbuilding, paper, industrial machinery, and machine tools.
ABB has accompanied Taiwan through economic growth, financial crises, and industrial transformation, striving to be a long-term partner for local customers. Today, digital transformation is accelerating, transportation electrification is rising rapidly, and net-zero initiatives demand urgent action to enhance sustainability and competitiveness. These major trends are reshaping industries and defining timelines for talent development, technology integration, and corporate transformation. As always, ABB will continue growing with Taiwan—shaping the future together.
